FIONA WILSON & WILMA TAGGART * Javea, Alicante - Spain * FEBRUARY THEME * INTUITION * Interview by Karla Darocas

New Frontier caught up with two of Spain's hardest working women entrepreneurs - Fiona Wilson and Wilma Taggart, in order to ask these busy gals to share their insights on "using your intuition" for business and life.

These Scottish "lassies" relocated their "on-site" chair massage business to the Valencia region of Spain over a year ago. Their novel and health oriented business is based on the acupressure massage of the Japanese "Anma" tradition, which works on over 100 stress release points on the back, neck, shoulders, head and arms while relaxing in an ergonomic chair. The demand has now led to training sessions whereby other massage therapist can learn how to heal - via this method.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q* In your life – would you say that intuition has been an active element? If so – please give an example…

A* Yes, intuition has played its part. To give a recent example of something that happened to a friend, although not in a business context, it did nevertheless affect her ability to go to work with the financial repurcusions of that. This friend recently fell in a restaurant, breaking her arm and her pelvis in two places. Interestingly, she had sensed an "inner voice" telling her NOT to enter, however as her friend was encouraging her, she ignored her own intuition and suffered the consequences.

Q* Do you feel that some people use their intuition when dealing with their business and their clients? If so – How do you use your intuition when working your Stress-Stop business and clients?

A* In any client orientated business where you are working physically close (as in massage), you must be open and observant to your clients feelings. Thus you can be sensitive to their concerns, problems and needs and direct your attention to them. If you intuitively 'know' that your client is withholding information regarding their state of health then it's important to allow the client to reveal what's troubling them.

Q * Do you ever find that you lose intuition and get back to a routine? How do you get your intuition back?

A* Yes, it's easy to lose it. It's being aware of when you are not listening to your 'higher self/intuition and getting back on track that counts.

Q * How do you put your intuition to work - when deciding what goals to achieve in your business projects?

A* Haven't been aware of using it for goal setting.....mmmm we should do that!

Q* Do you believe that the listening to your intuition is something you figured out naturally? Or – can you be taught to listen and abide by your “guts” as they say?

A* I believe that we have 'lost' the ability to listen to our intuition as mankind has become less close to nature. However the technique can be taught and the skill revived and enhanced. We can all learn to observe and be aware of the 'signals' our intuition is sending us. For some people, it's a sensation in the stomache area (hence the link to 'gut feeling'). For others it could manifest in a tightening in the throat area. For some, it's more like an 'inner voice'.

Depending on whether our natural inclination is visual, auditory or kinesthetic(sensations & feelings), we can train ourselves to heighten the awareness.

For example... when a decision has to be made (personal or business) visually orientated people could imagine and use a traffic light system of red (meaning 'no'): green (meaning 'yes') and even amber (meaning that perhaps further information is required before deciding).

Auditory people can 'listen' for an internal or external voice guiding them to 'yes' or 'no'. Those who work well through their feelings can 'sense' for example if their palms get warm (yes) or cold (no). Of course these techniques can be altered to suit to individual preferences. I'd advise practising them at every occasion beginning with simple things or decisions. "Should I buy this new printer?" etc.

THANK YOU TO Fiona Wilson AND Wilma Taggart for conducting this insightful interview!
